**Richard is 183 cm tall and ‘big-boned’. He has been living in Taipei for over 15 years.

When I was little, I was not much exposed to Asian people. My family liked to eat chow mein. It came in a can and I hated it. I thought is was too slimy and it had bamboo shoots in it. I’m not sure I would eat it today. We never went to Chinese restaurants.

I was kind of cute.

When I was little, I would have been comfortable in Taiwan, because everything is smaller. I could sit down on a chair and not worry about it breaking. I could sit in the same chair for hours and not feel uncomfortable. In Taiwan, if I have to sit on a train for longer than an hour, my posterior will start to hurt because the seats are too low for me. The seats at the IMAX theater will also make my behind ache.

When I was little, I didn’t have to worry about what I ate. All my food went into energy and growing. My older brother could easily lift me up and swing me around in a circle. The day that I realized that he was too big to be swung around, I was sad. I felt sorry for him. Now I feel sorry for myself. Won’t someone swing me?

I am not so little anymore, but I am on another diet. Thank you for reading.
