There is something for everyone in the tourist spots in Taiwan. Some people enjoy crowds more than others. Some people like scenery. Others would rather stay in the city and party away the night and day.

Yangmingshan is one of Taiwan’s beautiful spots.

Dansui and Pingtong are two tourist areas on opposite ends of the island. On the north, Dansui is at the mouth of a river and has been remodeled into a scenic riverside walkway that is lined with shops and games. You can take a boat to the other side of the river. Pingtong is the southernmost area of Taiwan and is a prime spot for summer fun. There is an annual big Spring Scream festival for the young and brave. It is home to the famous Kenting national park.

If you are not afraid of heights, then Nantou, Jade mountain, Alishan, or Yangmingshan National Park might be a perfect destination. Renting a cabin in the mountains is an enjoyable excursion. On top of Alishan you can stay in a nice hotel and take an early morning train to the summit to look at the sunrise. Yangmingshan has annual flower festivals and steaming volcanic vents to drive by.

Come to the big city. Some buildings in the city of Taipei are special enough to have a strong following in the tourism industry. 101 was the tallest building in the world for a long time. You can go up to the observation deck on a super fast elevator. Liberty Square was formerly known as the Chiang Kai Shek memorial hall, and is still a huge draw and a must see for visitors. Don’t forget to say hi to the pandas at the Taipei Zoo.

There is no shortage of tourism destinations in Taiwan. You can see museums, not the least of which is the Yunlin Hand Puppet Museum. You can go to beautiful spots of natural splendor like Taroko National Park, Sun Moon lake, or the Lin Family Mansion and Garden. Or there is always the old standby of visiting an amusement park such as E-Da Theme Park, Window on China Theme Park, Janfusun Fancyworld, or Yeliou Ocean Park.

There are many places to go in Taiwan that I am not aware of, I’m sure. For more information about interesting and fun places in Taiwan, check out the Taiwan Department of Tourism website at http://eng.taiwan.net.tw/. You will have an amazing time letting Taiwan “Touch Your Heart”.
