When I smell the crisp morning air while sipping on a piping hot cup of rich, aromatic coffee, I feel energized and ready to face another exciting day in Taiwan. The fragrance fills the air like a fresh mountain mist. It’s the first rest stop on an exhilarating daily adventure where one wonder will lead to another. A refreshing cup of coffee is just what I need to start the day with a smile and a can-do attitude that puts an extra spring in my step and declares to all the world that I am a doer, and that I matter, and that I can get great things done in this dog-eat-dog, cutthroat world. Let the hunger games begin, because I’ve got my coffee and nobody is going to stop me now.

<It makes me nervous, but I get a lot of work done—fast.>

Sometimes I’m at work and I start to get a little sleepy so I go out and buy a nice cup of coffee to wake me up a little. Sometimes it can make me a little bit too awake, though. Especially the coffee at Starbucks, it can be very potent. If I drink too much Starbucks coffee, thoughts will start going through my head at about 1,000 kilometers per second. At that speed, you don’t really know what you are thinking about anymore. And you can’t stop it. All you can do is just keep sitting at your desk and try not to annoy people by tapping your fingernails. Sometimes you can spell words that you thought were correct and then later go back and find that the words were completely made up. Sometimes I think that I may have typed them backwards, but after I take the time to type it all out backwards again, it still doesn’t make any sense. It is pretty unusual. Chewing gum will help keep me awake sometimes too. I have two rabbits at home.

Sometimes I think that I drink too much coffee, but I can’t worry about that now, because I need to take a nap. If I drink a lot of coffee and then manage to go to sleep, I have the most wonderful dreams. In my coffee dreams I am lord and master of the world and beautiful people want to be my friends. My coffee dreams are cozy and soft and comfortable. I am the prince of Coffee Land, and all I spy are under my beany jurisdiction.

I like coffee. I like it a latté. Please read my next article too. I’m tired.
